DOG CRITIQUE
I was very pleased to be asked to judge & would like to thank the committee for their hospitality shown to myself & my daughter stephanie. To the exbitor’s thank you for excepting my placing’s with good spirit, with one exception who could not see that their dog was lame on the day.
Some classes were difficult there being such variation in type & size.
I feel we are losing elegance when dogs are over sized, which I feel is a shame.

BITCH CRITIQUE
In agreement with my co judge, Mr Steve O'Brien, BIS the
dog Ch. Nut Chip Of Nevedith JW, RBIS the bitch Palmik Magical Whispers JW,
BPIS the bitch Nevedith Simply Sultana and BVIS the bitch Palmik Princess. I
had a few mouths which gave a little cause for concern, untidy teeth and narrow jaws, but my main worry has to be
front movement and overall front
construction on some of the exhibits. The correct lay of shoulder, return of
upper arm and fill in front giving the right placement of the elbows was lacking
in some making the front appear slightly shunted forward and upright. Overall conditioning on the whole
was good but being a running dog I would have expected to have seen a little
more correct muscling and conditioning
in the front and especially in the rear
quarters including a good second thigh which was lacking in some. The feet on a
few caused a bit of concern as did the length of nails. Some of the classes
presented me with some really hard decisions to make on the day but I was
pleased with my line up and the committee did a super job of running a smooth and enjoyable show and made us very welcome.
Veteran Bitch (9,3)
1. Howgate and Hull’s Palmik Princess, a curvy bitch I have judged before who can still teach a few younger exhibits how to move with lovely flowing side profile. She flows from head to toe, with good length in her neck and body, lovely angles front and rear, good depth of body and presented in such tip top condition. A lovely bitch heading a lovely class of veterans. BVIS.
2. Wayman’s Pipijay Starlight Of Scarletfair, classic Whippet bitch with lovely head and expression and length of neck, another with flowing lines and correctly angulated front and rear, nothing exaggerated. She too was well conditioned and was handled and moved out well by her young handler.
3. Baxter’s Hernevalley Mazurka.
Minor Puppy Bitch (14,1)
1. Newton’s Nevedith Simply Sultana, headed a good and well filled class of babies making for some tough decisions on the day. Good in head and length of neck flowing into well angled front with fill, nicely set elbows, lovely for depth and length of body and ribbing and flowing into shapely rear quarters. A well conditioned pup, moved out well with reach and drive if just a shade untidy behind today. BPIS.
2. Howgate and Hull’s Palmik Starlight Surprise, another shapely pup of good head and lovely length of neck flowing into a correctly angled front, again good elbow set. Lovely for depth of body with correct length flowing into curvy rear quarters which she used well on the move. Another sound puppy who was presented in lovely condition.
3. Gallie’s Nevedith Sprite Of Erbys.
Puppy Bitch (11,1)
1. Wayman’s Cornstalk Magic Star Of Scarletfair, headed a more difficult class for type and movement this feminine young bitch has a lovely head and expression, good length of neck flowing into her well laid front. Good depth of body with plenty of length and well ribbed back, curvy lines flowing into nicely angled rear quarters which she used to advantage on the move. Sound young bitch who now just needs to mature on and drop back into her frame.
2. Walker’s Thesperia Thetis Of Shoalingham, another really feminine baby of such lovely size and shapely throughout. She flows from her lovely head into a good neck, correct front, good for depth of body, well ribbed back into curvy rear quarters. Another well presented and conditioned pup who moved out well if just a wee bit close in front today.
3. Newton’s Nevedith Sprite Of Erbys.
Junior Bitch (13,4)
1. Howgate and Hull’s Palmik Magical Whispers JW, this bitch really pulled out all the stops today and in the final challenge she just begged for the CC. So shapely overall with a super feminine head and expression, good length and strength of neck, lovely front construction, good depth and length to body, well ribbed back flowing into shapely rear quarters. Presented in such lovely condition and although a tad untidy in front at times she really used herself on the move. Her crowning CC shouldn't be too far away.BCC.
2. Cowton’s Lawleymoon Let It Be, another shapely bitch although a wee bit heavier through the front than 1st, she has matured on well. Good head and expression and length of neck which flowed into a good shoulder and return of upper arm. A curvy underline with correct depth, nice for length and ribbing into shapely rear quarters. Good for overall condition and moved out well.
3. Smeath’s Wolfcastle Song Star At Willingwisp.
Yearling Bitch (11,2)
1. Becquet and Darby's Becscott Snowdrop Lady, ultra feminine bitch with lovely head, super length neck which flows into a good lay of shoulder, return of upper arm with elbows set under. Lovely for depth and length, well ribbed back into shapely rear quarters which she used so well on the move. Presented in lovely condition and a very close contender for top honours but she just flagged in the final challenge.
2. Harrison’s Courthill Coco Chanel, out of the same mould as her illustrious older sister, feminine in head and expression, good length neck into her well laid shoulder with a good return of upper arm and fill. Curvy underline, with good depth and length of body with a correct topline into shapely rear quarters. Moved out well but seemed to lack enthusiasm here today.
3. Philips-Griffiths’ Adagio Careless Whisper To Astri (imp Swe).
NoviceBitch (8)
1. Walker’s Thesperia Thetis Of Shoalingham.
2. Reynier-Yates’ Diaghilev Prima Ballerina, reserve in the puppy class and seemed a little more settled here. Nice shape to this bitch, with good length neck into a well laid shoulder but would prefer a touch more return of upper arm. Good for depth and length of body into curvy rear quarters, moved out well but now needs time to mature on.
3. Brookes’ Crosscop Honeysuckle.
Under Graduate Bitch (15,1)
1. Quirk’s Nallaram Moondust, a shapley bitch with good flowing lines but does not always show the best of herself. Feminine in head and expression, good length and strength to neck, good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm, good in topline and underline, with nice length flowing into curvy rear quarters. Moved out well but a tad untidy coming.
2. Beckett Hughes’ Mulranny Celtic Princess; not a lot between these two bitches, the first just having a wee bit more length of upper arm and fill but another shapely one with again good head and neck, nice topline and underline with depth into curvy rear quarters. Presented in nice condition, moved out well.
3. Scholes’ Craigavad Crystal Tips.
Special Beginners Bitch (10,1)
1. Foster’s Turnstone Khameleon Of Kopplewell JW ShCM, smart and well presented bitch of nice overall shape and size. Good head and expression, good for length and strength in neck into nicely angled front. Sufficient length of body with good depth into curvy and nicely angled rear quarters which she used well on side profile but just a wee bit untidy in front coming.
2. Harper’s Aphrael Padam Padam At Janiste, a feminine bitch of good size and overall shape who was just a tad unitdy on the move and needs to settle to a pace. Good head and lovely expression, good length neck, nicely angled in front, shapely in body with nice underline and topline into good rear quarters. Both presented and conditioned well.
3. Prices – Ashvillebur Jacks Jewel.
Post Graduate Bitch (21,7)
1. Rees’ Kierpark Golden Kiss, not the easiest of classes for type and movement this bitch presented an overall shapely picture with no exaggerations. Good for size, lovely head and expression, good neck flowing into a well laid shoulder with nice return of upper arm. Topline could be a shade cleaner on the stack but good depth and length of body into nicely angled rear quarters. Moved out well and nicely conditioned.
2. James’ Willingwisp Royal Diva At Drakesoak, although this bitch could be a shade tidier on the move and slighter tighter in pastern she presents an elegant and feminine picture overall. Good in head, length and strength in neck, nicely angled front and rear with good length and depth of body and nicely ribbed back. Nice tight feet and presented in really good condition.
3. Neale’s Stormalong Nightime Blues.
Limit Bitch (18,2)
1. Woods’ Ardencote Just A Cracker, headed a lovely class of bitches which made for difficult decisions on the day. A very elegant and shapely bitch, so feminine presenting a good overall picture. Lovely in head and expression, good length of neck flowing into her well angled front with good elbow set. Shapely topline and underline with good length and depth of body into curvy rear quarters. Moved out well and presented in super condition. Happy to award her the RCC.
2. Dufty/Morland/Morland Allen’s Triken Timeless Star JW, another super bitch presented in the correct condition, with perhaps a shade more length in body, there is a lot to like on this bitch too. Nice in head with good neck into her well laid shoulder and nice return of upper arm. Elbows well set, a curvy underline with good depth, nice topline and well ribbed back. Shapely and conditioned rear quarters which she used well on the move.
3. Banyard’s Darquell Hannah Nutherwon.
Open Bitch (10,3)
1. Bennett’s Stormburst Winter Berry JW, although not the easiest of classes for overall type and movement this is a bitch you have to put your hands on to assess correctly. Good in head, length and strength of neck, she has a well laid shoulder and return of upper arm with fill, shapely underline and topline, good for depth and length of body flowing into nicely angled rear quarters, no exaggerations. Presented in lovely condition, her overall picture and movement won her this class.
2. Seers’ Espinore Evening Star, an honest bitch of lovely shape if a wee bit heavier than 1st and would prefer a slightly tighter pastern. Neck of good length into a well laid shoulder, nice return of upper arm, good depth and length of body and well ribbed back. Shapely rear quarters used well on the move, a well conditioned sound bitch with no exaggerations.
3. Bird’s Blandings Infatuation.
