DOG CRITIQUE
My sincere
thanks to my two wonderful stewards for keeping the ring running like clockwork
all day long. Many thanks also to all exhibitors for a lovely entry of dogs to
go over. Some hair splitting decisions had to be made and quality in the main
was excellent.
Veteran Dog (6)
1. Shepherd’s Buebezi Cahoots with Oxana A brindle dog, up to size but so well balanced in outline. He excels in profile movement, having a long, free stride and he is accurate coming and going.
2. Anderson’s Shoalingham Senator Fawn dog of lovely type and size. Correct angulation front and rear and good overall mover.
3. Noel-Smith’s Spiders'N'Spoons.
Minor Puppy Dog (7)
1. Bellamy’s Palmik Celtic Royale. Brindle parti dog, sound and accurate on the move, lovely hind angulation and low hocks, bags of length over loin and excellent length of neck. Free, easy mover in profile, a most promising puppy.
2. Russell's Chapleigh Asellus Borealis Classy fawn puppy who also moves round very well, correct overall make and shape just doesn't have the return of shoulder of the 1st dog.
3. Keenan and Smith’s Yialousa Sparkling Story of Citycroft.
Puppy Dog (8)
1. Stock and Gilmour’s Courthill Catcher in the Rye. Fawn and white parti puppy, almost a year old and looking very mature in outline. Good angulation front and rear, clean over the shoulder, handsome head, nice for size and bone. Moves well. BPD
2. Eades’ Courthill Cast a Spell Brindle with white trim, lovely balance throughout, ideal length of loin for length of leg, good angulation front and rear and attractive, masculine head. Very close up to 1st, liked him a lot.
3. Neilson and Birchall’s Track of Time.
Junior Dog (8)
1. Rishworth’s Ipanema Indian Pearl A brindle dog of excellent type and size. Scopey outline, he covers the ground well both standing and moving. Good length of neck giving him elegance, masculine head, good depth of brisket and nice low hocks.
2. Taylor’s Triken Timeless Temptation at Teyora. Brindle dog who was close up to 1st all round. Lovely quality, well balanced all through, sound coming and going, just not as scopey in loin as the winner.
3. James’ Drakesoak Twist Magic.
Yearling Dog (10,1)
1. Welsh's Sejoda Walking in Memphis. Loved the overall balance of this pale fawn with white trim. Good length over the loin, excellent bone without being coarse. The best of angulation front and rear, good depth of brisket, length of neck and very accurate on the move.
2. Ellis' Railfield Rainhawk Different type to winner, more elegant in outline, excellent length of neck, deep brisket, super coat and skin, very exciting in profile with a great length of stride. Preferred length of loin and hind angulation of 1st today but predict an exciting future for this dog when he is fully mature.
3. Hurley's Diaghilev Ballet Master.
Novice Dog (12,1)
1. Taylor's Triken Timeless Temptation at Teyora.
2. Keenan and Smith’s Citycroft Never Forget. Red fawn puppy with scopey outline, so much to like about this youngster, good angulation, rear in particular, nice for bone, attractive head and good coat and skin. Very promising.
3. Penman-Butler’s Elmanash Aldaniti at Sudalaw.
Under Graduate Dog (9)
1. Lloyds Cedarridge Dark Mountain Fawn dog with attractive, curvy shape, good for size, nice depth of brisket, masculine head, well balanced outline, moved well in front, needs to tighten up in hind movement.
2. Triken Timeless Temptation at Teyora
3. Drakesoak Twist Magic.
Special Beginners Dog (8)
1. Anderson’s Woolsocks Red Kite. Elegant fawn parti who caught my eye from the first glance. Good scope in outline, correct angulation front and rear, excellent clean shoulder and straight front, moved well.
2. Williamson’s Starswift Casanova 1st was closely followed by this classy and classic fawn, everything fits well together, he moves well, is good for size and of lovely type. Not the length of neck of the winner but pushed him hard.
3. Price's Whisterfield Jack Be Nimble among Silkdance.
Post Graduate Dog (14,2)
1. Spencer’s Chelridge Casanova JW Surprised myself with this fawn dog, I have thought him to be too tall from the ringside but he is beautiful to go over. The smoothest of shoulders, masculine all through but total quality, gleaming coat. Covers the ground well standing and moving. Definitely one to watch, for the future.
2. Reynier-Yates’ Diaghilev Ballet Shoes Red brindle, super sound mover from any viewpoint, good angulation front and back with well balanced outline, nice low hocks and masculine head.
3. Strunin's Millwold Make a Move to Boarley.
Limit Dog (22,4)
1. Clarke and Moore’s Yialousa Frisco Bay at Sunwalkers Brindle parti dog, what a stunner he is to go over and he doesn't let you down on the move. Super outline, elegant length of neck, good angles front and rear, scopey over the loin, he was my top dog up to this class and was so unlucky to meet the two Open dogs on such excellent form.
2. Jones’ Welstar with Strauss Lovely fawn boy of super size and type, so well put together, lovely head and expression and sound on the move. He's long been a favourite of mine.
3. Beckett-Bradshaw and Morgan’s Mulranny Celtic Prince at Hutaka.
OD (5,1)
1. Wilkinson’s Ch Benzfreya Drumbeat JW ShCM Flashy pale brindle dog, ultra sound going up and down and sweeps round the ring in profile. Lovely length of neck into clean correct shoulders, super angles front and back and well balanced in outline. He never gives up showing for a second and this won him the CC in hot competition.
2. Russell's Willingwisp Star Trooper Another stunning little dog. Gave him a 1st and considered him for the CC the last time I judged him and he has gone on getting even better. Masculine but spot on for size, scopey outline, good tuck-up and excellent angulation front and rear, super mover, a worthy Champion and today’s RCC winner
3. Ellis' Spinneyhill Rainmaker of Railfield.
